Sure there is value - if one does not know or wish to chose anything more inspiring. The question really is: isn't there a much faster, more pleasant, and less boring and ego-centric road than the one of suffering? Can we stay disciplined enough to continue growing, because we choose to grow, not because we are 'forced' to grow by suffering? Do we have enough strength to detach from this powerful human conditioning 'we need suffering to grow', and to embrace: - living love (perhaps) or - loving kindness (perhaps) or - helping other souls to grow (perhaps)... All these, would leave us such a strong dis-interest for suffering, and would take so much of our energy, that we would not want to waste our time any longer on suffering.

My whole department has just been made redundant and I stayed with no income coming in and with just a notice period paid - 9 weeks of salary. Even-so, I have this tremendous sense of release and trust that money will somehow come. No push, no stress, no screams, just a feeling of certainty that this is how it should be and that this situation will open a new chapter in my life, and that one day I will be grateful for it...
